The Christian Union in Bournemouth has 2 mission weeks a year. One ‘major mission’ around november time and a ‘mini mission’ around febuary time. The major mission is a week of blatant out and out outreach to those on the university campuses with a series of lunchtime talks, 30 second questionaires and we usually will have a table set up both on the AiB and BU campus sites promoting these and giving out free snacks. During the week we also encourage CU members to cook for their flatmates, wash up for their mates in halls or the student village with other members of the CU.
For last years mini mission we did a series of talks based on ‘post modernity’ given the media and arts focus of the two university this is a really big thing and something which crops up quite alot in discussions. Questions and Criticism dealing with the notion of ‘exclusive truth claims’ and the validity of the Bible as a ‘text’.
